Elias Avery Lowe

Elias Avery Lowe (15 October 1879 – 8 August 1969), original name Elias Avery Loew, was an American palaeographer. His wife was the noted translator H. T. Lowe-Porter.

Born to a Russian Jewish family (he is also The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson's Great Grandfather),[1] he received his doctor title in 1908 in Munich under the supervision of Ludwig Traube.

His main works are the Codices Latini Antiquiores.
